TRACK REVIEW: Day Wave / Come Home Now

Oakland musician, Day Wave, has released the first single following the release of his EP, Headcase, which was released earlier this year. He has since become a household name in the indie community because of a little song he has called “Drag”. No new release has been announced but the single will get the vinyl treatment, which will be out November 6th and features a new track, titled “You Are Who You are” as the B-Side.

For me it seems Day Wave has sort of channeled the song that got him to his fame a little too much on this track because they both seem highly similar to me (Listen to “Drag” here and make your own comparison). Despite this, the song is still solid and enjoyable one that makes you nostalgic about the summer that’s currently coming to an end.

As far as lo-fi guitar and synth music goes, Day Wave seems to be on the top of that field in recent months but we also feel that he’s repeating the formula a little to exact with this song. Despite flaws, “Come Home Now” is still a decent track that will appeal to fans of Day Wave’s music but is still weak at its core.

OVERALL, “COME HOME NOW” GETS A 6.5/10
