DOUBLE TRACK REVIEW: Cut Worms / Don’t Want to Say Goodbye + Going Down Sideways

Cut Worms is the up and coming solo project of singer songwriter, Max Clarke. The 7″ released on one of my favorite labels, Randy Records, really displays the amount of emotion he is able to  get across with a guitar and his voice together in unison. If you don’t listen to Cut Worms yet, you need to.

“Don’t Want to Have to Say Goodbye” is a longing song that feels like it could’ve been written 40 years ago or today and people would still love it. It’s a catchy song that’ll stick around in your brain for a while and it’s not a bad thing to have it stuck there.

OVERALL, DON’T WANT TO HAVE TO SAY GOODBYE GETS A 7.5/10

“Going Down Sideways” feels less like a B-side and more like a fully fledged single with the emotional power that it has within it. It’s an intimate acoustic song that really connects with the listener and feels as if you’re hearing Clarke playing it right in front of you. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw this on an album or EP in the future.
